Testing for the Coronavirus is becoming more readily available which means we are going to see the numbers of confirmed cases continue to increase. It doesn’t mean that more people are sick, just that we have more tests to confirm the illness. As we are preparing for worse case scenarios, including when clients and staff show symptoms and are diagnosed, we are working on several responses to ensure that we are able to keep staff and clients as safe as possible.
· I/DD Staff have been contacting all families and guardians of CILA residents to ask them to bring home their loved ones if possible.
· As families and guardians of CILA residents begin to take them home, the I/DD Directors of Residential Services will consolidate the remaining CILA residents into a fewer amount of homes. We are hoping to reduce from 40 individual homes to 30-35.
· AID leadership is developing incentives for I/DD staff working in residential settings who are willing and able to work with clients with symptoms of and/or positive confirmation of COVID-19.
· Nursing is compiling protective gear for use at residential locations when there is a confirmed case. The CDC is NOT advising the use of masks or other protective gear for those not testing positive.
