The Association for Individual Development (AID) offers tailored, consumer-focused programs and services designed to be equitable and inclusive for individuals facing developmental, intellectual, physical, and mental health challenges, those who have experienced trauma, those in immediate or chronic crises, those who are chronically unhoused, and those at risk. AID aims to help them overcome personal, behavioral, societal, and environmental barriers to achieve recovery, independence, self-reliance, and live the lives they choose.
Since 1961, AID has been dedicated to supporting individuals with these challenges and those at risk, providing essential, life-enriching services that promote maximum independence and community involvement. These services include autism programs, permanent supportive housing, in-home support, developmental and vocational training, job placement and coaching, crisis intervention, victim services, mental health treatment, behavioral intervention, health and wellness initiatives, community education, and advocacy.
Serving the greater Fox Valley area and surrounding western suburban counties, AID is a leading provider of comprehensive services that address the unique needs of individuals throughout every stage of life. AID supports over 5,200 children and adults, operates community day centers in Elgin, Aurora, Batavia, and Yorkville, and provides outpatient mental health clinics throughout the Fox Valley. The organization also supports over 500 individuals living in their own apartments and more than 200 in group homes across the region. AID collaborates with Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHCs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Frequent Users (FUSE) programs, Continua of Care and local hospital systems to decrease homelessness, increase employment and improve the mental and physical health of residents.
