The Association for Individual Development cares deeply about our clients and staff! In order to ensure that we are able to meet our clients’ core needs for food, shelter and medication and after reviewing new guidance from the Illinois Department of Human Services, AID will put in place the following protocols as of Monday, March 16, 2020:
· For the week of March 16-20, 2020 all Community Day Services (CDS) Programs will be closed. Community clients, not residing in AID CILAs will be expected to stay at their homes. AID CILA residents will remain at AID CILAs.
· All Community Day Services (CDS) Staff should report as usual to their assigned work location on Monday morning. Staff will then be routed to work in other locations (residential).
· Our highest priority is ensuring the safety of our clients and staff, so AID sites will implement an enhanced screening process for any visitors presenting at these locations:
o All DD Residential Settings
o DeKalb BH Office
o McHenry Elm St. Office
o Highland BHOP
o Aurora Children’s BH Office
o Aurora Plum St. Office
· The Enhanced Screening Process will include the completion of the newly updated Visitor Screening Questionnaire (see attached) and the completion of a body temperature taken using no contact thermometer. We will disseminate thermometers to locations listed above. Supervisors will work with staff on the implementation of this process.
· We are discouraging visitors at all AID Residential Sites and encouraging the use of skype, FaceTime and telephone as ways to communicate with loved ones.
· Clients in DD Residential settings will not be taking part in social activities outside of their home including non-emergency medical appointments.
· All BH clients will be given the option to reschedule and/or have services delivered telephonically.
· Psychiatric clinics will continue to ensure that all people have access to their medication.
· AID Staff will contact clients prior to home visits to assess the health of the household.
· The Crisis Line number should be provided to all clients ongoing.
· Remember to continue the use of practices which reduce the Spread of Germs (see attached), frequent proper washing of hands with soap for 20 seconds, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces and staying home if you have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher.
We will reevaluate the situation on Friday, March 20th and decide whether Community Day Services (CDS) are able to re-open or remain closed for the next week. Thank you for your patience and assistance during this difficult situation!
