AID has been monitoring the suggested responses to slow the potential transmission of the novel coronavirus. After reviewing the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health and county health departments websites, AID will be implementing the following steps:
· Posting the CDC Stop the Spread of Germs flyer in all bathrooms and common areas of all AID properties (see attached)
· Posting the Visitor Screening Questionnaire on the front doors of all AID properties (see attached)
· Assisting Clients with implementing ways to stop the spread of germs (see attached), particularly the proper washing of hands with soap for 20 seconds, covering your nose with a tissue when sneezing and staying home when you are sick
· Reminding Staff about ways to stop the spread of germs including hand washing, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces and staying home if you have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher
· Providing Information to families about ways to stop the spread of germs and advising them to be prepared to assist with support of their family members if an emergency situation should arise
As a reminder, if an ill client arrives at a Community Day Services (CDS) site, it is our policy to contact nursing and send the client home (see attached). These common sense measures which reduce the spread of any type of germs, should be standard operating procedure at all times but particularly during this time. With all of us working together, we can greatly reduce the risk of the spread of any illnesses! If you have any questions, please speak with your supervisor or nursing staff.
Continue to keep an eye out for further actions being taken by AID. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and are looking at potentially limiting social interactions in the community for clients. As more information and guidance is made available, we will be providing further steps to take.
