The recent, senseless killing of yet another person of color has stretched our collective emotions of outrage, grief and anxiety to a breaking point. Since 1961, the Association for Individual Development (AID) has committed itself to empowering people with physical, developmental, intellectual and mental health challenges to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. Our mission always has and always will be inclusive of all individuals regardless of race, color or creed.
While we continue to search for answers and develop solutions to affect real change in America, we need not only to hear but also truly listen to the voices of people of color whose experiences and stories are essential threads in the fabric of society; of humanity.
AID is committed to being part of these conversations and developing an ongoing advocacy action to push our organization, our communities, our state and our country towards meaningful change.
