National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration observed in many countries, to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism and volunteering.
Without the help of over 60 active AID volunteers,
we would not be able to provide the outstanding programs and services that our clients deserve.

Enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs by becoming a volunteer with the Association for Individual Development (AID). AID offers many unique volunteer opportunities in Aurora, Elgin, Batavia and Yorkville. Assist with arts & crafts projects; teach special classes such as cooking or basic computer skills; coordinate community outings; or work on the Fox Valley Crisis Line. Volunteers are greatly needed Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

For fifty-seven years, The Association for Individual Development (AID) has served individuals with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma and those at risk. Vital, life-enriching services that promote the highest level of independence and community immersion include: autism programs; respite care; permanent supportive housing; in-home support; developmental and vocational training; job placement and on-the-job coaching services; crisis intervention; victims services; mental health treatment; behavioral intervention; health and wellness; community education; and advocacy.

The gift of time, talent and compassion can change a life.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Assists AID staff with outings and activities in the community and classroom.

What makes her an AID All-Star Volunteer?
Marlene is very devoted to AID programs on a weekly basis. She is always lending a hand with our seniors and treating them with the dignity and kindness they deserve.

Marlene's presence gives AID staff much needed assistance for clients that utilize walkers, canes and wheelchairs.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Provides clerical support by scanning and auditing paperwork.

Linda treats her volunteer time like a paid job. She is extremely punctual and tackles any project with a can-do attitude. Linda's efforts help keepAID compliant with safety regulations and the assistance she provides to the humanresources department ensures a smooth hiring process.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Provides supportive counseling and phone crisis intervention
on the AID 24/7 Crisis Line

What makes him an AID All-Star Volunteer?
Nathan is an engineer by trade and uses those skills to assist callers in creative and innovative ways. He is patient and allows the callers to express themselves freely on the crisis line.

Nathan goes out of his way to seek out resources and support mechanisms for callers.

Makes health and wellbeing calls to individuals with with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenge and seniors.

Frank is empathetic, patient and caring. He has great communication skills and allows clients to tell their stories. Frank's positive communication skills makes him a role model for fellow volunteers and AID staff.

Mike

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Mike is usually assigned to a work line and assists clients and staff with moving heavy boxes, cleaning, quality inspections and more.

What makes him an AID All-Star Volunteer?
Mike will lend a hand for any task. In addition to assisting clients on the work line, he has helped set-up a client computer area, reorganized a client classroom and prepared an area for a client holiday party. Mike is a role model to many AID clients. He shows them how hard work and a positive attitude can pay off.

Arranges and beautifully decorates all raffle baskets for the AID Benefit Auction.

Her talent for creating picturesque baskets always transcends expectations and helps AID raise much needed funds. We are truly grateful for Terry's donation of supplies/auction items, long volunteer hours and unique artistic vision.
